Bass viol after an anonymous English instrument of 1649 owned by Dr. Lucy Robinson in Cardif.
This is a great all round instrument for solo and continuo playing. The neck of the original has been replaced but I have found 70cm to work very well. I have also made this instrument with a slightly shorter neck of 69cm and 67.5 for players with smaller hands. It has a five piece bent front and is available with a carved head or scroll and a variety of purfling decorations.
